Note : Happy International Worker's Day, everybody! Get organized, get angry, smash fascism!

This is one of those "rediscovered" bad movies that have become cult favorites, similar to Samurai Cop, and while this 4k remaster isn't the greatest, I've managed to collect all the riff commentaries available, and synced them with this uncut version (mostly a matter of compensating for some nudity that was cut in the RiffTrax versions), so it's a pretty good package. If you like martial arts, biker gangs, ninjas, ninja biker gangs, rock bands, and the power of interethnic friendship, you'll like this. Largely the brainchild of Taekwondo master Y.K. Kim, who co-wrote the story, co-directed, and starred, this amateurish but extremely entertaining turkey also features Vincent Hirsch, Joseph Diamand, Maurice Smith, and Angelo Janotti.

A Miami cocaine deal being made by a number of stereotypically Latino guys is interrupted by an attack by deadly motorcycle riding ninjas, who steal the drugs and kill many of the drug dealers. The leader of the ninjas is Yashito, whose close associate Jeff is at a club watching his sister Jane, who's become involved with John, the bassist of the club band Dragon Sound. Dragon Sound is a close-knit group of ethnically diverse friends who are all orphans, and who do everything together, they go to college together, study Taekwondo together, eat spaghetti together, drive cars and pick up girls together, get vaguely homoerotically semi-naked together, etc. Jeff doesn't like his sister dating John, so he confronts him, but Dragon Sound's rhythm guitarist and martial arts instructor Mark steps in and makes him leave. After this, a series of group fights with other bands, Jeff's gang, and finally the ninjas ensues, and they also have to rescue Tom, their lead guitarist and singer, who's been kidnapped by the ninjas.

This is not a great transfer, with copious dust and minor dirt, and it's a bit grainy, but it's quite watchable, and we're not exactly here for the cinematography. The original Ultra Stereo sounds fine, the commentary track is pretty amusing, and of course the three riff commentaries are the stars of the show. The RiffTrax and RiffTrax Live tracks are actually from the same script, but the delivery and timing varies, and the Live track has audience reactions and so on, so it's worth including both, while the Jaboody track is, well, what you'd expect, comedy accents and all.

HeVK torrents always have lots of keywords. Try searching for “hevk martial arts” for more kicking and punching with the power of friendship, “hevk music” for more films about, based around, or just featuring a lot of music, or “hevk 80s” for more from the decade when you could make this kind of genre mishmash and, well not be successful, I guess, but maybe get close.
